I happened to hear some of the "Lord Stern at the Press Club" show on the radio.
I had to turn it off before I vomited all over the steering wheel.
The sniveling syncophants who all dutifully turned up to grovel all over him were really disgusting.
What gives these people the right to pontificate on the Planet?
I thought Journalists, as in the "Press Club", were there to question doomsday cultists, not to join in!

Seriously alarmed, not only by the climate and weather, but by the demise of their golden headed, boy Kevin Rudd, and the wavering in the AUS political parties, the UK climate change establishment sent out their alarmist-in-chief to stick his finger in the dike (so-to-speak).

Lord Stern was infamous for producing a UK Government economics report that it was much more expensive to spend trillions in the West, destroy the middle class, and condemn the entire Third World to life as noble savages, than to just wait and see, and adapt to whatever climate change actually comes along as we always have done before.

Pity about the GFC - didn#39;t see that in your Stern economic report did ya! - I know let#39;s have a "Son Of Stern" report.

We believe you - millions wouldn#39;t - but we believe you. Now tell the resurgent USA "Right", the Chinese, The Indians, the Brazillians, the Indonesians....

What happens when a lie becomes so big that it is taught as gospel in schools?

Well, it takes a while, it#39;s like turning around a Super Tanker.

AUS ABC barely reported it because it creates doubt and doubt is anametha to "Climate" - too many self-appointed expert pundits are starting to look really stewpid and gullible.

Antony Albanese nearly got rolled by the Greens at the election.

Seemed like a good idea at the time.

This is what happens when Parliaments take Greenies seriously - The Renewable Energy Target - groan.

THE AUSTRALIAN - BUSINESS
Electricity prices set to soar as a result of government policy
Annabel Hepworth
August 30, 2010 12:00AM
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/electricity-prices-set-to-soar-as-a-result-of-government-policy/story-e6frg8zx-1225911616174

THE chief executive of one of the country#39;s biggest energy retailers has warned that power prices are set to increase dramatically.

Origin Energy boss Grant King said that complying with the mandatory renewable energy target (RET) and network spending would put upward pressure on energy prices.

"That#39;s not of our making, or anybody other than policymakers," Mr King told The Australian.

"That#39;s just the inevitable and logical consequences of the policies" that governments are implementing.

His comments follow both federal Resources and Energy Minister Martin Ferguson and his opposition counterpart Ian Macfarlane warning in separate interviews with this newspaper that power prices were likely to double in the next five to seven years.

Mr King said that estimate was "possibly conservative" and added that many consumers of utilities faced "a real come to Jesus moment" as suppliers were forced to re-price energy, water and other essential services.

The RET seeks to ensure that 20 per cent of Australia#39;s energy consumption by 2020 is derived from renewable sources.... "

Can someone please explain to me why our power bills should more than double so we can idle our power stations when the wind blows strong enough and the sun shines brightly enough?
Something to do with "saving the planet" wasn#39;t it?
Is it "saving the planet" - well no - but it#39;s the thought that counts!
Yibbity, yibbity, that#39;s all folks.

It really isn#39;t "nice to be Green" if you#39;re an African.

CANADA FREE PRESS
DDT, Malaria, Increased poverty, disease and death
End environmental experiments on Africans!

By Fiona Kobusingyenbsp;
Monday, August 23, 2010
http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/26868

" ...They are playing with our lives. So are the government agencies, health NGOs and others who support their policies. This is wrong and immoral. And it is only one of the ways they use Africans as experimental laboratory animals. They are also denying us access to other modern technologies that can improve and save lives.

600 million people in sub-Sahara Africa live on two million shillings ($900 USD) or less per year. Nearly 700 million never have electric power for lights, refrigeration, schools, shops and clinics - or have it only a few hours per week. Millions die from diseases that would be prevented, if they did not have to burn wood and dung, and had safe water, better healthcare and higher living standards that reliable, affordable electrical power would bring.

But environmentalists constantly block coal, gas and hydro-electric power plants. They want us to live in experimental societies where people get whatever limited electrical power can be generated day to day with wind turbines or solar panels. They pressured the World Bank to reject loan applications for power plants in Ghana and South Africa, and support President Obama when he says Africans should focus on wind, solar and bio-fuel power, instead of fossil fuels.

Meanwhile, they live in wealthy countries, with all the electrical power they need. With the health, opportunity and prosperity electrical power brings. With freedom and mobility that cars and fossil fuels bring. With blessings most Africans can only dream of.

Radical greenies also oppose agricultural technologies that would bring a green revolution to Africa. They denounce seeds that have been ldquo;touched by corporationsrdquo; -nbsp; even hybrid, but especially biotech seeds - that produce bigger, more nutritious crops, resist plant diseases like banana wilt and cassava brown streak, survive droughts, thrive in nutrient-poor or saline soils, and require fewer pesticide applications.... The result of the the Aussie Election is no result.

Nobody opposed the Greens.

Nobody opposed the Greens and they have wedged off a section of the leftist Labor vote to increase their Senate seats and even take a inner city Reps seat.

Nobody opposed the Greens.

The Turnbull/Hockey "wets" in the conservative Liberal Party forced their leader into a faux Climate Change policy and a maternity scheme which looked like a cynical bribe, and he was unable to differentiate his product enough.

Both magor parties have got to start opposing the Greens or we will loose the stabilising effect of the two party system.

Ironically the Greens themselves have sidelined Climatenbsp; - if you watched them on the night, they are pushing other issues to the forefront - e.g. gay marriage - even toned down fishing and agriculture in a move to the center.

Climate Change is dead but it won#39;t lie down - it needs a coup de grace before anymore damage is done.

Nobody opposed the Greens - they are getting a free run - nobody is calling them to account and believe me they have a lot to account for.

The "balance of power" independents are in rural seats - they may be able to salvage the Broadband Network from the wreckage and chaos.

Don#39;t be taken for granted.

Surely you have noticed where all the goodies and largess is going - yes, to the marginal electorates.

Be an aspirational voter - aspire to being in a marginal electorate.

If you live in a "safe" Liberal seat vote Labor.
If you live in a "safe" Labor seat vote Liberal.

If you fortunately already live in marginal seat, enjoy all your new roads, railways, schools, and other infrastructure goodies but consider the following facts.
nbsp;
nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; FACTnbsp; If you vote Labor you will get a magnificent fiber optic two-way broadband network, if you don#39;t you won#39;t.

nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; FACTnbsp; If you vote Liberal you will get a small carbon tax, if you don#39;t you won#39;t - at least until 2013.

nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; FACTnbsp; Both sides will spend your money on useless windmills and solar panels and your power bill WILL RISE. Please neutralise the pernicious, expensive, Green excesses, give your first vote to the CLIMATE SCEPTICS PARTY.

Look for them on your big Senate Ballot paper

POLITICO
GOP candidates knock global warming
By DARREN SAMUELSOHN | 8/18/10 4:31 AM EDT
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0810/41192.html

" ...Ron Johnson, running against Wisconsin Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold, is the latest in a line of Republicans to take a shot at the validity of global warming.

ldquo;I absolutely do not believe in the science of man-caused climate change," Johnson told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Monday. "It#39;s not proven by any stretch of the imagination."

Johnson told the newspaper that the climate change theory was ldquo;lunacyrdquo; and blamed changes in the Earthrsquo;s temperature to ldquo;sunspot activity or just something in the geologic eons of time."

Similar remarks have been heard from GOP candidates in all parts of the country even as mainstream climate scientists defend their work from a steady line of attack.... "

More Detail On Liberal's Not-So-Big Carbon Tax.

nbsp;

The links in the previous post were outdated here are some up to date ones.

First...
Beware the NGER - National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting - It languished with the demise of the CPRS, but the Libs will revive it.
http://www.climatechange.gov.au/government/initiatives/national-greenhouse-energy-reporting.aspx

Like in the UK, all busineses "above the threshold" will be required to report their GHG and energy consumption to the government. The cost?, the bureaucracy? - yes you pay.
But wait there#39;s more!
If business#39; reduce their GHG they get rewarded. If they cannot because they are already efficient, they get nothing. Think about this - who decides what? - it is the mother of all bureaucratic nightmares.
Then there#39;s the bad news.
If business#39; have mustered all the the energy efficiency they can - there is only so much saving available, what and with power costs these days - they want to expand - their energy consumption increases - naughty - they are warming the planet - they must be made to pay.
And pay they will.
The not-quite-so-big tax on everything.

It#39;s all buried in this glossy policy document
The Coalitions Direct Action Plan Policy
http://www.liberal.org.au/~/media/Files/Policies%20and%20Media/Environment/The%20Coalitions%20Direct%20Action%20Plan%20Policy.ashx

" ...Operation of Fund
The Emissions Reduction Fund will use the existing National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting
Scheme (NGERS) to determine proposed emissions reductions beyond overall base levels already
determined for individual firms.
Businesses that reduce their emissions below their individual baseline (lsquo;historic averagersquo;) will be able
to offer this CO2 abatement for sale to the government. This will provide businesses with a direct
financial incentive to take direct action to reduce their CO2 emissions below their baseline levels.
Small businesses and other entities not covered by NGERS will be able to participate on an lsquo;opt-inrsquo;
basis.
Unlike Laborrsquo;s emissions trading scheme, businesses will not be penalised for continuing to operate
at lsquo;business as usualrsquo; levels.
Businesses that undertake activity with an emissions level above their lsquo;business as usualrsquo; levels will
incur a financial penalty. The value of penalties will be on a sliding scale at levels commensurate with
the size of the business and the extent to which they exceed their lsquo;business as usualrsquo; levels.
The value of the penalties will be set in consultation with industry.... "

Yeah right!

Then this -
nbsp;
Tony Abbott may think it#39;s all a "a-great-big-tax-on-everything" and "absolute crap", but Malcolm Turnbull and the "wets" in the Liberal Party have $37BILLION X 10 years = 370 BILLION other ideas.

The simple little fact that it hasn#39;t quite been invented or proven yet makes the threat of this $370 billion cost blowing out a real possibility and since it came from the green lobby itself the claimed $370 billion is probably a low quote anyway.

SYDNEY MORNING HERALD
ENVIRONMENT
How to be fully renewable in 10 years
BEN CUBBY
August 13, 2010
http://www.smh.com.au/environment/energy-smart/how-to-be-fully-renewable-in-10-years-20100812-121l0.html?autostart=1

" ...The Zero Carbon Australia Stationary Energy Plan - a collaboration between Melbourne University#39;s Energy Research Institute, the environment group Beyond Zero Emissions and engineers Sinclair Knight Merz, puts the cost at $37 billion in private funding and public investment every year for the next decade.

" ...The price tag may make it sound like a pipedream but the scheme earned the endorsement of the federal Liberal MP Malcolm Turnbull who added his support at a forum at Sydney Town Hall last night.... "

Cuckoo

Cuckoo

" ...Under the plan, 60 per cent of the nation#39;s electricity would be sourced from 12 huge solar thermal power plants, which use Australian-developed technology to store heat in molten salt, allowing them to operate for long periods when there is no sunshine.... "

Cuckoo

Cuckoo

" ...The remaining 40 per cent of the power grid would be filled by about 6500 wind turbines at 23 large-scale wind farms dotted mainly around the coast.... "

Cuckoo

Cuckoo

" ...The plan would generate 325 terawatt hours of electricity a year, meeting the nation#39;s entire power demands in the year 2020, if a comprehensive energy efficiency plan is also factored in. Any shortfalls could be made up by biomass energy generation, using a portion of the stubble from the nation#39;s wheatfields.... "

Oh, and then there#39;s that $92 BILLION we forgot to include before...

" ...To properly harness all the renewable energy, the report calls for the unification of Australia#39;s three separate electricity grids and some new transmission lines to link the new power stations to capital cities, at a total cost of $92 billion.... "

Now who#39;s talkin#39; "absolute crap"?!

Ben Cubby, the SMH resident Greenie who wrote the above trite pap seems to be a bit worried that the real Greenie enemy may not be Tony and the Libs, but Julia and Labor....

" ...However, the National Generators Forum, which represents power station owners, and the office of the federal Energy Minister, Martin Ferguson, were decidedly lukewarm about the plan when asked about the findings last month.... "

Julia has, of course, neutralised "Climate" by simply puting it in the "to hard" basket until after the election.

"Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you#39;re gunna get".

The Aussie Liberal Party Carbon Tax.
The aussie liberal party candidate, Tony Abbott, was reported as saying Climate Change was "absolute crap" - but then he said don#39;t listen to my off the cuff remarks, take the writing seriously.

Well here#39;s something in writing...

JOINT PRESS RELEASE - DIRECT ACTION ON THE ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE
Tuesday, 2 February 2010
THE HON. TONY ABBOTT MHR, LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION,
THE HON. GREG HUNT MHR, SHADOW MINISTER FOR CLIMATE ACTION, ENVIRONMENT AND HERITAGE
DIRECT ACTION ON THE ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE
http://www.tonyabbott.com.au/Pages/Article.aspx?ID=3929

" ...Businesses that reduce emissions below their baseline or lsquo;business as usualrsquo; activity will be able to sell their CO2 abatement to the government. This will provide a direct financial incentive for firms to take action to reduce emissions below baseline levels.

Businesses that emit above their lsquo;business as usualrsquo; levels will incur a financial penalty... "

A "financial penalty" which will be collected by the Government - I thought a "financial penalty" collected by the Government was called a TAX - correct me if I#39;m wrong - and who will pay the tax?

Yes, you guessed it, the hapless consumer again.

He was good on the dreaded RET, but, - Renewable Energy Target

From The Aussie Oposition Leader - Budget Reply Speech.
http://www.tonyabbott.com.au/Pages/Article.aspx?ID=4067

" ...As well, the Coalition would not proceed with the budget increase to the renewable energy future fund and will cut government advertising by 25 per cent.... "

His opponent Julia Gillard was much better and neutralised "the great big tax on everthing" claims by putting off her great big tax on everything indefinitely and stating - Julia-speak - "and we continue today, to face a situation, where there is not that community consensus about a carbon price"
and Julia-speak - "where there is not deep understanding about what that would mean and how it will require us to work differently and live differently"

The "great big tax on everything is still there however - just postponed - and deals have been done with the AUS Greens for preferences - deals we will all have to pay for very dearly again.

Don#39;t wanna risk either of them?

Very Expensive Mistake.
These chinese windfarms and hydro projects made the mistake of taking the EU/UN Greenies seriously about carbon offsets. A multi-billion dollar mistake.

The EU Climate alarm has drifted off into high farce. The meeting in Bonn has also resorted to claims ofnbsp; floods, heatwaves and the ever reliable giant iceberg being "consistent with" their computer modelled alarm. Nobody cares. Nobody believes and nobody is listening anymore, except in the cloud cuckoo land known as the United Kingdom.

The election that is is.

Cardinal George Pell has come out against the Greens.

He#39;s also come out against Gay marriage and other progressive reform, which kinda neutralises him politically, he#39;s more of an embarrassment than a help for Abbott, but we welcome him aboard the SS Anti-Climate-Change.

At least someone is opposing the Green excesses.

George has long been a vocal climate sceptic - recognises a false faith when he sees one.

AUS Greens have a very good social reform policy, but that pales into insignifigance compared to their "Climate" lies and anti-fishing and anti-rural threat.

WHY ARE THESE ISSUES JUST IGNORED?

Why do the pie-in-the sky Greens just get away with it, completely unchallenged in the MSM?

Desperate days for the warmists

" ...He didn't explain what might have caused the similar hot weather 130 years ago.

Meanwhile, notably little attention has been paid to the disastrous chill which has been sweeping South America thanks to an inrush of air from the Antarctic, killing hundreds in the continent's coldest winter for years.

In America, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has been trumpeting that, according to its much-quoted worldwide temperature data, the first six months of this year were the hottest ever recorded. But expert analysis on Watts Up With That, the US science blog, shows that NOAA's claimed warming appears to be strangely concentrated in those parts of the world where it has fewest weather stations. In Greenland, for instance, two of the hottest spots, showing a startling five-degree rise in temperatures, have no weather stations at all.

A second technique the warmists have used lately to keep their spirits up has been to repeat incessantly that the official inquiries into the "Climategate" scandal have cleared the top IPCC scientists involved of any wrongdoing,... "

Sea Level has risen over one hundred metres since the peak of the last ice age, only 20,000 years ago. A blink of the geologists eye.  If the low lying coral atolls had not been able to rise with the sea level due to coral growth then they simply wouldn't be there now.

Elementary my dear Watson.

And the ice didn't melt slowly, it was quite rapid, just as rapid as any "Climate Change" melting.

Here, Gerald goes on a junket to the Maldives and actually does his job instead of being conned by the Greenies. Amazing. They have real journalists in Germany.
We actually got a good, balanced, report on the issue for once.

"The geomorphologists compared old aerial photographs taken in World War II with current satellite images. To their surprise, they found that most of the atolls they were studying had either grown or remained unchanged in the last few decades, even though the sea level has already risen by 12 centimeters (about 5 inches).... HUMAN EVENTS
Global Warming’s Golden Moment Has Passed
by  Daniel J. Flynn
07/17/2010
http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=38093

" ...Environmental fads falling out of fashion are nothing new. Overpopulation yielded to acid rain, which yielded to saving the ozone layer, which yielded to preserving the rain forest, which yielded to global warming. Each succeeding cause provided its advocates a redemptive, world-saving mission, and tautologically, depicted its opponents as devil figures bent on allowing the destruction of the planet. The self-flattery inherent in the causes, more so than the science behind them, explains their widespread popularity.

What has separated global warming from its trendy antecedents has been its staying power. Global warming became the subject of congressional hearings and magazine cover stories in the late 1980s. Whereas proponents of the green cause of the moment, once it had been sufficiently discredited, could quickly move on to the next fleeting cause without losing face, global warming, because of its multi-decade endurance, is different. The likes of former Vice President Al Gore, NASA’s James Henson, and Hollywood’s Laurie David, as they say in poker, are “all in.” Evidence against the theory becomes an acid test calcifying the commitment of the true believers.

But that doesn’t seem the case with the mercurial Newsweek.... "

Let#39;s hope this one don#39;t fly.

UK Greenies, want a magority vote at the next UN Climate conference, ignoring the opinion polls, the huge backlash in the USA, not to mention the 1,000,000,000 plus asians who now want a TV, a fridge, a microwave and a washing machine like the UK greenies already have.

Perhaps we should have a majority vote from the billions waiting in abject poverty - maybe they will agree to remain as noble savages, poking a cowdung fire, to "save the planet", while they wait for their solar panels, wind turbine and battery/inverter to arrive from "The West"?

China Makes Western CO2 ldquo;controlrdquo; Pointless
July 20, 2010 by E.M.Smith
http://chiefio.wordpress.com/2010/07/20/china-makes-western-co2-control-pointless/

" ...China mostly uses coal, and will use ever more of it over time. They are locking up coal supplies world wide by purchasing them or signing 20+ year contracts. They have no intension of reducing coal usage. They have also recently bought large chunks of Canadian Tar Sands, so you will find them being used too, despite their high CO2 production.

China is not improving energy efficiency as fast as the west, so any move of processes to China will make more CO2, not less.

Add those three together and you find that Cap lsquo;N Tax and Koyoto like treaties will result in a net increase in CO2 production as the sources simply move to China. This is NOT a theoretical, itrsquo;s already happening (and in large part has happened. Look at the size and growth of China steel production, for example.)... "

Huge amount of anti-Climate stuff coming out in the USA - the Dems backed a real LOSER!

SUMMIT DAILY NEWS
Dr. Martin Hertzberg: Scientific malfeasance
Dr. Martin Hertzberg
Copper Mountain
Tuesday, July 20, 2010
http://www.summitdaily.com/article/20100713/SPECIAL/100719929/1098/visitors&parentprofile=
" After a brief respite to digest the “climategate” scandal and the IPCC's negligent acceptance of fraudulent claims about melting Himalayan glaciers, the SDN echo chamber of environmental propaganda has resumed in full form with the Peters-deBuys article of July 17. Such activists are trumpeting the recent spring increase of 0.1 C in average temperature while they completely ignored the previous decade decrease of 0.25 C. The environmental propagandists are now back on message with their talking points in preparation for the Senate's consideration of an energy bill. The article is right about one thing: namely, that you should look at the data yourself; but not the eco-massaged data they recommend but rather the raw data as summarized in www.climate4you then click on May 2010.

The data show nothing particularly dramatic for the last several decades: temperatures, polar ice coverage, and sea level fluctuations that are all well within the range of normal variability. For more details, see my recent Café Scientifique talk on www.youtube.com and enter “climategate” and “hertzberg” in the search box. ( http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=climategate+hertzberg&aq=f ) The data show that average Earth temperatures do not correlate with the recent increases in atmospheric CO2 concentrations, and that neither of those quantities correlate in any way with the human emission of CO2 by fossil fuel combustion. The entire theory that “greenhouse gases” in the atmosphere can reradiate energy back to the Earth and thus cause more heating, has been proven to violate the laws of thermodynamics, and thus to be completely devoid of physical reality. Acceptance of that theory by some journals, scientific organizations, and government agencies both national and international, represents scientific malfeasance on a grand scale. "

This UN IPPC, M. Mann, graph completely ABOLISHED the Medieval Warm period. Then it added insult to injury by defending it - to this day!

If you have to argue that there was a Medieval Warm period this link is very definitive.
Don't forget, but, aruing with greenies is arguing belief - you can't win and it will get very emotional!

Medieval Warm Period Project:
Was there a Medieval Warm Period? YES, according to data published by 857 ( http://www.co2science.org/data/mwp/scientists.php ) individual scientists from 510 ( http://www.co2science.org/data/mwp/institutions.php ) separate research institutions in 43 ( http://www.co2science.org/data/mwp/institutions.php ) different countries ... and counting! This issue's Medieval Warm Period Record comes from Royal Basin, Olympic National Park, Washington, USA. To access the entire Medieval Warm Period Project's database, click here. While you can pick and choose your favourite science it is always wise to listen to engineers, especially when they stick their neck out and make warnings.

Here's another one for the Its-Only-When-Parliaments-Take-Them-Seriously-We're-In-Real-Trouble department.

" ...BRITAIN faces years of blackouts and soaring electricity bills because of the drive toward green power, a leading energy expert warned last night.

A growing obsession with global warming and “renewable” sources threatens the stability of our supply.

Derek Birkett, a former Grid Control Engineer who has a lifetime’s experience in electricity supply throughout Britain, warned that the cost of the crisis could match that of the recent banking collapse.

And he claimed that renewable energy expectations were now nothing more than “dangerous illusions” which would hit  consumers hard in the pocket....

And, speakin of the UK - the Scots are - "not-happy-Jan"...

" ....The average household energy bill is currently £1,194 a year, with £84 or 7 per cent of this going towards environmental levies. These include the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (£24), Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (£45), Community Energy Saving Programme (£3) and the Renewables Obligation (£12). However, policies launched under the previous government are expected to add a further 6 per cent in levies over the next decade. This will cost consumers an extra £72 a year on their energy bills, resulting in the average household paying a whopping £156 a year in environmental "taxes".

It doesn't end there though.... "

"Editor’s note: In response to reader interest in Dr. Ferenc Miskolczi’s provocative greenhouse theory challenging the widespread belief in man-caused global warming, Climate Truth has asked the former NASA researcher to explain his work further. Earlier this week he attacked the prevailing climate-change theory, calling it “a lie.”
At Dr. Miskolczi’s request, we also have posted his letter sent last year to the Environmental Protection Agency, summarizing his research and questioning the agency’s efforts to declare CO2 a harmful pollutant that poses a threat to earth’s climate.... "
